Building Sustainable Livelihoods and Strengthening Socio-Economic Resilience
The Self Help & Economic Empowerment Project (SHEEP) is implemented across all Hi-Hub districts with a mission to strengthen sustainable household economies and enhance socio-economic resilience among community members. Rooted in the Human Impact Hub’s core pillars of community engagement, social inclusion & support & health & wellbeing, entrepreneurship, climate smart agriculture and environment. The project integrates gender mainstreaming, socio-economic empowerment, technological innovation and green technology.
Through strategic social mobilisation, participants are organised into Self-Empowerment Groups (SEGs), creating platforms for collective learning, mutual support, and shared growth. With a deliberate focus on inclusion, 80% of project participants are women and 55% are youths, ensuring that those with the greatest potential to transform their households and communities are at the forefront of economic opportunity.
At the heart of SHEEP is entrepreneurship training designed to empower women, men, and young people to become self-reliant. By equipping participants with practical business skills and fostering an entrepreneurial mind-set, the project promotes independence and reduces dependency, laying the foundation for long-term relevance, success, and sustainability.
The SHEEP aligns closely with national priorities and community development strategies, complementing government efforts to stimulate economic growth and improve livelihoods. Through its holistic approach, SHEEP continues to create pathways to dignified work, stronger communities and a more resilient future.
